Though considerably more notable for its lasting impact on the independent film industry, "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" is nevertheless a riveting study of the relationship between sex and the human psyche.
Rarely has Soderbergh been in better form both as a writer and as a director, even though his style has changed drastically over the years, but the real standout is James Spader. His nuanced performance is one for the ages.
