Review of sex, lies, and videotape (1989) by Anuczka P — 06 Jul 2008
I watched this for the first time in over a year and during the opening scene, I immediately remembered why this is one of my favorite films. Each step toward the end is more raw and powerful than the one before it.
And as a directorial debut for Soderbergh, it really is an accomplishment and, in my opinion, one of his very best. The haunting impression it leaves long after it's finished makes it such a treasure.
And the conversation between James Spader and Andie MacDowell at the end breaks my heart every time I hear and see it. It's such a gutsy and intelligent film...I really can't help but love it.
