Review of Seven Swords (2005) by Monkey L — 29 Nov 2006
I wasn't as gripped by this as I was by other recent films of this type (generalising wildy here) such as hero, house of flying daggers, crouching tiger etc but maybe its because I don't understand the genre, history or mythos that well.
Ideas of honour and what is essentially right and wrong in these films often clash with my "western" views so I tend to enjoy the beauty of the cinematography and the elegance of the choreography more than the actual stories and their meanings.
This film fulfilled both these basic needs of mine but not as much as some of the afore mentioned movies.
