Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Tommi L — 03 Feb 2011
Five stars just for the shear amount of excellence that is so evident during every minute of the film. It's a fairly simplistic story, that is, it's simplistic to me because it has been imitated by so many, but never with as much quality.
I was enthralled throughout the entire three and a half hour subtitled movie which is an achievement in itself. The superb writing and fleshed out characters drive it forward along with the great fight scenes.
Not to mention one of the most entertaining monkey-esque characters I've ever seen in a film. If you enjoy cinema at all you can't miss this classic.
