Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Curtis R — 02 Sep 2010
Unarguably one of the greatest films ever made and my personal favorite of director Akira Kurosawa. It tells the story of a village of poor farmers who grow tired of dealing season after season with a group of merciless raiding bandits and decide to hire six out of work samurai and one drunken crazy samurai poser to deal with their problem.
The first half of the epic film deals with introducing us to the characters and the second half builds up to one of the greatest action battles of all time. This film is the original and is often imitated but never duplicated.
