Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Zack S — 29 Sep 2011
No doubt in my mind that The Seven Samurai is one of the greatest films ever made. I think anybody who claims to be a film fan should definitely see this. Otherwise, they would be missing out on one of the most influential films ever made.
So far, this is the only movie by Akira Kurosawa that I've actually seen, but there's no doubt he's an amazing filmmaker. This movie really was a turning point in cinema as it features an engrossing and brilliantly told storyline.
Storytelling really doesn't get better than this! I also thought the characters were great complete with memorable performances. I don't know this cast, but the actors were brilliant. Of course, I can't forget about the film's stunning action sequences which were engaging, exciting, and well done.
The visuals and the cinematography in this movie were quite impressive! I can't say anything negative about this film because it's impossible as this is a timeless classic.
