Akira Kurosawa's 3 and 1/2 hour epic about 7 Samurai who for their own reasons decide to defend a peasant town from bandits. The films flows organically with great performances from the 7. Some of the other acting is a bit outdated but the movie was made in 1954.
A classic piece of film history, a must see. (remade as a western, "the magnificent 7").
