Review of Serpico (1973) by Tara — 21 Nov 2008
Real life stories usually tend to be more compelling. The premise behind Serpico sets up for a good drama. Mix in a young Al Pacino and you have the makings of a quality film. However, I walked away from this film feeling very let down.
The movie dragged on way too much and wasn't as interesting as I thought it could have been. I felt Pacino did all he could with his role, therefore my faults are with the direction. The story is good, but the storytelling isn't.
I seem to be in the minority on this one and chances are most will enjoy it. Pacino fans should give it a watch for his good performance.
