Review of September (1987) by Særún G — 11 Feb 2010
Woody allens stab at chekhov with a dash of the bergman sensibility. elaine stritch is excellent as the terrible mother. this is not necessarily the best of mr allens work but its far from bad. its definitely a bit of a downer of a film but that doesnt keep it from being effective.
the characters are all still very real. if you dont like it because it doesnt agree with your sense of what life is....then you dont like being challenged by a film.
