Review of Senna (2010) by John T — 10 Oct 2013
I waited a long time to see this and was not disappointed. The documentary of the life of Ayrton Senna, one of the greatest Formula One drivers ever, who was tragically killed in 1994 relies primarily on archival racing footage and family home video clips. There are no retrospective video interviews, and no formal voice over commentary.
This 2010 documentary from Asif Kapadia is a brilliant tribute to not only a sports hero, but to an entire nation. All of Brazil mourned at this death. This film is infomative and well-paced, visually and audibly pleasing. Crafted to inspire, this film succeeds on all fronts.
