Review of Secrets & Lies (1996) by Stephen L — 18 Nov 2007
Not once does this film resort to melodrama. Given the story it could have very easily done that. But that's what's great about this and other Mike Leigh films, he tells mature stories in a mature way.
Brenda Blethyn is amazing in this and Timothy Spall gives the film some laughs. This is just a great little film. It didn't even seem very long.
