Review of Secrets & Lies (1996) by P. P — 29 Mar 2011
I don't feel the need to say much about this because this was a repeat viewing. I greatly admire Mike Leigh and watching his recent film Another Year gave me a hankering to revisit the rest of his oeuvre.
This is a masterful blend of comedy and tragedy. Brenda Blethyn is a revelation as the dotty, vulnerable, infuriating protagonist of this family drama/comedy.
