Review of Secrets & Lies (1996) by Red L — 06 May 2012
Mike Leigh's best work due to a touching story and great performances. Brenda Blethyn was snubbed of an Oscar win. Mike Leigh crafts such stunning films that it is hard to not have your mouth hanging open afterwards.
Yet, they are great because they are so ordinary; they depict everyday life without anything extraordinary happening. Everyone should see this film that won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture.
