Review of Secret Window (2004) by Lilu S — 17 Feb 2010
This movie is based on a classic novel by Stephen King and tells the story of Mort Rainey, a reclusive but famous mystery writer who is living in a remote lake house after having left his wife, whom he found in bed with her lover. Whilst there he is unexpectedly confronted by a dangerous stranger named John Shooter (John Turturro) who claims that Rainey has plagiarized his short story. The psychotic Shooter demands justice. When Shooter's demands turn to threats - and then to murder - Rainey turns to a private detective (Charles S.Dutton) for help.
Johnny Depp gives a killer performance in really keeping this movie balanced with his amazing and brilliant acting skills. Maria Bello, Timothy Hutton and Charles S. Dutton do well with their smaller parts. The plot was EXCELLENT and the story was very well written. I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time and oh, what an excellent ending! It will leave you speechless.
