Review of Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster (2010) by Santino D — 26 Mar 2011
The second made for TV live action Scooby-Doo, easily on a par with the first 'The Mystery Begins', and Palatas once again steals the film as Shaggy. The mystery is fun and throws in a nice twist at the end, admittedly adults will have seen this coming from the beginning but this is really aimed at kids so all is forgiven.
Some nice homages to the original series with various sight gags dotted throughout the film. Love the idea that the gangs involvement in mystery's have consequences, the gang are forced to get summer jobs to pay for damage they have caused during an investigation.
Some of the cameos are nice but will be lost on most kids but was nice to see Richie Cunninghams 'Mum' pop up as a salty store owner with a dark family secret. I look forward to any further adventures that this incarnation of Mystery Inc.
might get involved in.
