Review of Sawdust and Tinsel (1953) by Michael W — 03 Dec 2007
Great news. Criterion just released Ingmar's Bergmans first masterpiece. If there could be such a thing as perfection in art, this one is a prime contender. Beautifully composed with rhythms flowing between the starkness of white skies and dark interiors.
Performances are extraordinary. An amazingly honest exploration of the myriad ways in which we humans can torture each other. And yet, we must endure.
