Review of Sawdust and Tinsel (1953) by Bill M — 12 Nov 2011
The best part of this film is the flashback sequence involving the clown, which if you can get into it, you have all the tools you need to getting at the heart this film. This film is a good, easy to digest piece from Bergman's canon of work.
It's probably no one's favorite of all his films but it definitely opens the doors to the topics and concerns of the director. It introduces audiences to the actors frequently seen in future films and productions, most notably Harriet Andersson.
