Review of Saw V (2008) by Ka M — 23 Oct 2010
With a new director, Saw V becomes a little easier on the eyes than the last movie, and follows a new and interesting story.
Agent Strahm was supposed to die, but he fights back and goes on a one man investigation to expose the rat in the police force who is Jigsaw's apprentice. This new crime thiller theme the Saw series takes on is intriguing and cool. The group trap is even refreshing too, as it focuses on 5 people who are all connected in some way. This movie adds more thought in it's characters, traps, and morals.
I must say that David Hackl did a great job in putting on the directing shoes of Darren Lynn Bousman. He keeps the style and the look but paces the editing in a much better way. The traps in this movie are also better too, not being as complex as the other instalements and yet being just as disturbing.
Here's another Saw movie I think is underrated. This 'cat and mouse' story is very cool, very thoughtful, presents new insight on the minds of it's characters, and finishes with a pleasing climax.
