I think this movie fell flat because first of all: the hole game is totally unnecessary and doesn't work because it has nothing to do with anything. so you can cut the hole game out and not even notice.
the thing that stands out the most is the overall backstory to Hoffman and how he (Spoiler alert!) became jigsaw's helper and still evolves the story further.
