Review of Saw III (2006) by Skyler I — 08 Jul 2011
Saw 3 was a good film and an adequate second sequel overall, but there were a couple of major problems that really dragged down the fun. First, the repetition. This was the first film in the series that put a character at the beginning of a path and made him walk through it, encountering people and trying to save them along the way.
What bugged me about this was the main characters apprehension. In almost every instance, he seems reluctant and unwilling to save anyones life, often just standing around looking frantic while the clock counts down, even though he whines and cries like a baby when they die.
I think he manages to save one person though, so it's not all bad. The ending of this film also sets up a number of interesting subplots. It also deserves praise for finding new and inventive ways of keeping gory events fun.
