Earning points on the basis of its squirm inducing devices, Saw 3 also has a lot to give in terms of the whole cake: character, acting, plot devices, enjoyment, gore, plot twists. I did NOT expect something of such high quality from the third film of any series, and if the saw franchise continues to head in this path, I will pledge my allegiance to this gore filled tangent for some time.

Shawnee smith shines in this one, showing vulnerability, desperation, rage, and complexity as she builds on the layers that sh developed in the last two instalments.
