Review of Saw III (2006) by Noah A — 20 Oct 2014
Saw 3 the the last saw film that Leigh Whannell wrote before doing other projects. Whether it was trying to be the last saw film until Saw 4 is made is up to people who watches it. But as is, Saw 3 is a good film.
The acting is good, but I hear mostly screaming from them then I do with them just talking. The writing is decent, but there were some moments where it didn't make sense. The traps are more complex and more brutal to watch which I like, but it was starting to feel like a torture porn film.
The plot is very limited compared to Saw and Saw 2 and just felt like an excuse to show the game for the main subject. It was going well at the beginning with Eric Matthews, but apparently the movie doesn't care about him that much and just leave him for sequel, some of the stuff really did felt like they were saving it up for a sequel.
Maybe it wasn't trying to be the last film? Whatever the case here, it's still a good movie, Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith are great in this, but the movie felt like a step backward. Maybe it should've just ended in part 3 and it would've been fine.
