Review of Savage Grace (2007) by Rajansatish P — 18 Aug 2010
I don't know what the point in making this movie was... and I see no point in telling people who haven't seen it, to see it. Just don't bother. It tells a version of the true story of the Barbara Daly Baekeland murder case.
"Savage Grace" also revolves around the disturbingly incestuous relationship between her and her son. Oh, and Hugh Dancy's character. But the real life person Dancy's character is based on claims that the movie is mostly bullshit.
He says he never slept with Barbara's son (which he does in the movie) and he doesn't think Barbara did either. Barbara may have told people that, he says, because she liked to shock people. The characters in "Savage Grace" lead pretty bleak lives, and because of that there is just no way to enjoy this movie really.
Avoid. Two stars for Eddie Redmayne.
