Review of Satyricon (1969) by Robben M — 07 May 2008
After Fellini's neo-realist period, he began to delve into dreams and the psyche for a new tone to inject into his tales. In some ways, Satyricon is one of the seminal "felliniesque" films.
Combining tableaux, aural cacophony, grotesqueness, theatricality and just plain visual audacity, Fellini once again expresses his abject frustation at the current state of society (and youth expecially), showing how empty we've all become; how nothing has changed in a millenia.
