Review of Satyricon (1969) by Roy F — 06 Aug 2010
Eye candy and filth alternate scene to scene, hedonism the norm, shots standing alone in perfect composition, Satyricon feels more like History than stories about cherry trees or burning bushes. More like Film than Blockbusters can't even pretend to be anymore.
The visuals are breathtaking, colorful, arrogant and elegantly bizarre. Full of barbs that stick to the psyche and bleed into dreams and paint and standards reaching tall and tipping taste buds in a fainting of dominoes.
