Review of Saturday Night Fever (1977) by Deb S — 20 Jun 2011
A pointless movie.Absolute vehicle for the disco 70's scenario and thats all.Everithing goes around the disco dancing and a cheesy nightclub called Odisey 2001.The best on this movie is some songs and the performance of Julie Bovasso as Travolta's mother.
Tony Manero, an immature young man whose weekends are spent visiting a local Brooklyn discothèque meets Karen Lynn Gorney his dance partner and eventual friend. While in the disco, Tony is the king. His care-free youth and weekend dancing help him to temporarily forget the reality of his life: a dead-end job, clashes with his unsupportive and squabbling parents, racial tensions in the local community, and his associations with a gang of macho friends.
Some unpleasant sex scenes and what I told before makes this movie, despite the success aquired in the 70's, a crap.
