Review of Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic (2005) by C F — 13 Jun 2007
I love Sarah, I enjoy her comedy, and I thought this movie was pretty good too. It's basically an hour of stand-up with some skits and musical numbers here and there. My main problem with the film is that the cutaways feel thrown in rather than naturally flowing with the stand-up footage, resulting in a fairly uneven overall experience.
The stand-up stuff is usually pretty damn funny though. Her style serves as a good barometer of seeing what you can laugh at and what you can be offended by. So it's an entertaining movie, but it would've been nice to see them do a little bit more with it.
(Luckily, her show on Comedy Central serves that purpose quite nicely.).
