Review of Saraband (2003) by Brian B — 02 Jan 2008
Saraband is a good film, but no where near Bergman's best. The last film he made before he died, you can definately tell he is past his prime. Although the charactors are still incredibly deep and interesting, the story and the way that it is presented to you is a little lacking.
About a woman in her sixties who goes to visit an ex-husband from thirty years prior, and the drama that ensues between him and his son. It's well shot of course, and very well written, but not up to snuff with other Bergman works.
Worth seeing, but only for Bergman fans. Overall 2.5/4 Stars Grade = B.
