Oh to be Oiran!!! Geez, Tsutchiya gives such a touching, heartwrenching portrayal of a young girl sold to a brothel, striving to become the best prostitue in the red light district (an oiran) of late Edo period in Japan.
Full of stunning color and brilliant use of backgrounds and costumes.
