Review of Saints and Soldiers (2003) by Matt R — 08 May 2009
The film is a bit like an episode of Band of Brothers on a low budget - but don't let that make you think it might look cheap. It looks great, although it is limited by the budget to mainly being a character piece, without any large scale battles.
This is not necessarily a bad thing though, and the film has a realistic and authentic feel to it. One little complaint is that the score composer has chosen to write a score very similair to John Williams' work on Saving Private Ryan.
It actually sounds plagiarised at times. Nonetheless, minor qualms aside, the film is well worth a watch.
