Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by Patti S — 19 Feb 2013
I've been eager to see this film since reading its premiere at Cannes. A fearlessly authentic performance by Marion Cotillard who becomes a double amputee as a result of a freak accident. The special affects were so astoundingly realistic-- you could swear she really had no legs.
In the vein of COMING HOME but with so many additional elements. Highest dramatic scenes and acting unfolds in this story with flawed characters and several heart wrenching scenes. Story/script/characters are not quite as flawlessly developed, not consistently up to par on all levels.
Left me feeling a bit cheated or disappointed, therefore not a 5 star film...although I was desperately wanting it to be.
