Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by Kevin C — 07 Sep 2014
Not quite another A Prophet from Audiard, but this is a touching movie.
Plotwise it is actually a little messy with several thin plots all going on at once. And indeed perhaps loses itself in the final reels. But the romantic warmth means you will forgive it for all that.
We have themes of disability, fatherhood, fidelity, independence; all done with French melodrama and schmaltz. But the strong performances and tender moments more than overcome all that. Tres bien.
