One continuous take makes quite interesting hypnotizing effect, and I would recommend to watch this movie just for that reason.
Other than that... if you are not familiar with Russian history, it's probably frustrating to deal with abundance of unknown personages, if you are familiar with it... the movie doesn't offer any deeper look into the subject since it slides over its 'tabloid" moments.
