Review of Rushmore (1998) by Brandon T — 03 Jan 2010
I very much enjoyed the "feel" of Rushmore. I did not actually know it was a Wes Anderson film until the credits rolled, but looking back, it definitely had his style all over it. (I guess the inclusion of Bill Murray alone should have tipped me in that direction.) It was a fun movie to watch and the characters were rich and very human. The characters of Rosemary and Herman (played by Olivia Williams and Bill Murray, respectively) were fantastic and great to watch.
My issue with the film is that I just really never liked the main character, Max Fischer. This film is about him growing up, but still, some of the things he did just bugged me.
Rushmore is a good watch. Not my favorite Anderson film, but very worthy of his canon.
