Review of Rush (1999) by Jacek S — 06 Apr 2008
No cinema other than of US produced more hardboiled detective or undercover cop stories with chases on corridors, bouncing thugs over the walls or kicking the doors with famous lines like: "Freeze!" and what's so special about Lili Fini Zanuck's first and only feature "Rush" is that it boldly goes against the schemes, creating a convincing character study which revolves around themes such as lonleiness, addiction, guilt and suffering, leaded by powerful performances from Jason Patric and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
It's a rare example of movie in which line between cop and villian is so fine - since it shows what good has to go through in attempt to conquer the evil - that sometimes, by looking at their actions, they can look very much alike.
Evident gem of 90's.
