Review of City Lights (2014) by Jacek S — 12 Jun 2009
A crowning achievement, "City Lights" isn't only a truly great film, it is also an everlasting proof of Chaplin's brilliant, timeless imagination and it is actually quite impressive that the film consists at least five separable ideas for a feature pictures, that's how well it is thought-out, written and executed.
Chaplin builded up "City Lights", like any other picture, on simple, common seen things filtering them through his complex sensitivity, by which he gives us one of the most charming and funny scenes ever put on film, like the one with failed suicide, or a boxing match or the famous, remarkable ending.
Chaplin is a giant. And "City Lights" simply a perfection.
