Review of Runaway Train (1985) by Ivanka I — 17 Jan 2008
I love this movie because it has the best of two worlds: the best of Russia = true understanding of the human condition + honest account of the tragedy of daily existance; the best of America = the believe that it is worth pursuing happiness + dynamic action.
Only true art can make these work together .... (politics obvioulsy could never do the thing :-) The movie is based on an idea of Akira Kurosawa - ironic huh?
