Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Douglas D — 19 Feb 2009
Now that the majority of the cast have atleast been nominated for Oscars (Matt Dillon-Crash, Diane Lane-Unfaithful, Dennis Hopper-Hoosiers, and now Mickey Rourke-the Wrestler) and lets not forget the film was brought the screen by Francis Ford Coppola (the Godfather saga, Apocalypse Now), I think it's worth the effort to re-invest the time in this early 80's masterpiece that is, in many ways, a later day generation of "Rebel Without A Cause" drawn up by S.
E. Hinton. The film was shadowed by the release of another Hinton novel that Coppola brought the screen, "The Outsiders." However, this one is better, in a subtle way.
