Review of Rope (1948) by Lina P — 30 Sep 2008
Two guys decide to kill an "inferior" classmate just to prove to themselves that they can. They stuff the body in a chest, dress the chest up like a table, invite over the victims friends and family for a party, and serve dinner off of the "table".
Everyone is completely oblivious and our murderers revel in the fact that the young victims father and girlfriend are worried that he hasn't shown up to the party yet. But one guest begins to put the pieces together and what he suspects, terrifies him.
Good stuff. Hitchcock shot this on just one set. Very long shots. Only a handful of takes in the whole movie.
