Review of Rope (1948) by Georgia F — 13 Jan 2013
This film is a truly underrated masterpiece. When I first saw it wasn't even aware of the illusion of no editing, as it was so seamless and the story was so captivating that it managed to go unnoticed.
One criticism may be that it does not seem like your typical Hitchcock film, but I think that's what makes it stand out and thrive as a film, not just as a "Hitchcock film". The performances are superb, especially by John Dall, in a role that should have made him a star.
If I had to choose, I would say this is my favourite Hitchcock film, and I wish that it received more recognition.
