Review of Rope (1948) by Casey W — 06 Aug 2009
While Hitchcock's experiment with "one continuous take" doesn't work out quite as well as he had planned, 'Rope' is still worth watching. It's an interesting look at two characters who commit a murder just to see if they can get away with it, and it IS fascinating to see 7-10 minute-long takes.
.. amazing that Hitchcock and all of the actors managed to pull it off. Stewart is great, as usual, but most of the other charactors are quite irritating, especially Farley Granger's. However, the movie is definitely still suspenseful enough to succeed, and again, it's worth seeing if only for how the whole thing managed to succeed in the end.
