Review of Room at the Top (1958) by David C — 10 Mar 2009
Groundbreaking in it's time. This is the film that kick-started the 'sixties 'kitichen sink' revolution. While it's the first it's far from being the best, though it's a powerful, well acted story of a man who gains material success at the cost of his soul.
Simone Sigoret won an Oscar for this, a rare examaple of the Acadamy getting something right for a change. Shame Harvey wasn't equally rewarded.
