Review of Room (2015) by Lewis E — 27 Mar 2016
Highly likely that this won't be the film you expect. I heard 'Room' and immediately thought sombre tale about a mother and child trapped in a room, kinda like 'Panic Room' without the panic.
However, while certainly touching on sombre issues of captivity, it is primarily about the endearing maternal relationship and their imaginative notions of the outside world. This direction works, benefiting the movie by providing a wider range of emotional strength in comparison to a thriller/horror captivity atmosphere.
Nevertheless, I was going to inevitably find a story about two characters trapped in a room quite limited and therefore didn't take to it to the same extent as critics.
