Review of Room (2015) by Barbara C — 20 Feb 2016
Watch this with a tissue handy then go back and watch the first half again. Room feels so much different the second time through because you're viewing it not from a position of hope but of hopelessness.
He doesn't leave room while he's still plastic, plasticity only lasts through childhood. Jacob Tremblay and Brie Larson are magnificent. I cannot believe Joan Allen did not get more praise for her role in this film.
All of these performances will stay with me for a long time. There isn't a better piece of all-around filmmaking this year.
