Review of Romance & Cigarettes (2005) by Brandon T — 12 Jul 2009
Its the Un-Musical.
Romance & Cigarette is a film that uses a good amount of imagery as suggestion rather than coming out and saying what it means directly and in that way, it is interesting, however, the film is mostly unnecessary. I really feel like most of the ideas discussed in the film have been said before and more effectively.
Oh, and the musical aspect of this film feels totally ironic. Too bad the "ironic musical" is overplayed and tired...
Also, the actors pretending to sing to music with the lyrics still in it was done to far better effect in "Pennies From Heaven.".
But its always nice to see Amy Sedaris in a film. Oh, and Christopher Walken made me laugh, as always.
