Review of Romance & Cigarettes (2005) by Cheryl C — 11 Jul 2010
It's often a trainwreck, but it's such an amusing one, and has shots of things you thought you'd never see, like Eddie Izzard leading a choir, Mary Louise Parker leading an all girl backyard band, Bobby Cannavale (I knew him from Will and Grace) in a corset.
This isn't even mentioning the great moments from Steve Buscemi and Christopher Walken. Then you have the quiet excellence of Susan Sarandon in another role of strength, James Gandolfini doing good, and frickin Kate Winslet being awesome as usual, with costumes and lines that must have been too much fun to pass up.
Ridiculous, but I do love a movie with unexpected singing and a bit of heart.
