Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Kendall G — 06 Sep 2009
There is no better film than this and with Rome as a location backdrop it's hard to fail. Clever part with the mouth of truth (Bocca della Veritas) - it bites the hand off those who lie if they place their hand in its mouth - but since Bradley and the princess are both lying to each other the scene is very poignant.
Peck actually pulled a fast one on Hepburn and his stunt with the missing hand was not actually rehearsed - it made it into the film as a single take with Hepburns genuine reaction !
