The film isn't about Rollerball at all- it's about choice and personal perseverance. Individuality and Liberty in the face of oppressive Luxury and Monotomy. Also makes a good point as to how violence is a necessary evil to secure our natural rights.
..also...the way the game works to alleviate a perfect world's ennui and malaise by bloodletting says something about all of us.
