Long before he became THE Michael Moore with access to millions and the ability to promote his work in a way that would make PT Barnum blush, Moore made a genuinely scrappy working class documentary that may very well be one of the most influencial films of the modern era.

His juxtoposition of image, animation and pop music used to ironic effect made him a filmmaker to be reckoned with. The liberties Moore took in the editing of this film seem downright subtle compared to the 'creative license' he takes now and one longs for this Moore to make a return to the scene.

The Moore of the hapless little guy as opposed to the master millionaire propagandist he has become. I would have given this five stars but docked one because of the recent revelations that he...well.

..actually did meet Roger Smith. Still though, even beyond the documentary genre, this film has bigger laughs in it than many of the comedies that were released at the time.
