He wasn't always so obnoxious. Although Roger & Me lacks the spit polish and topical heat that helped his later work make documentaries a little more acceptable for mainstream moviegoers, it's possibly his best (and best-intentioned) film.

I doubt there are many people here who will disagree with the stand he takes here against the big corporation essentailly pulling the plug on job-dependant Flint, Michigan. It's obviously something Moore feels very strongly about, and it's frustrating and inspiring to see him stick up for the little guy and try and confront people who should be unreachable to him as an outsider. His agenda here is far more human and his demeanor far less smug. It's an essential and effective peace of modern muckraking that stirs up just the right level of outrage to make you care a little more about what's going on in our country.
